Road Duty Roster

Road Racers,

The 2009 road season kicks off on the 18th April, and if you plan to compete in road racing you will be required to do race duty at least twice in the season. This year we have a new web based roster system called Duty Man which will provide the following benefits:

  • You can check on the web at any time to see when you (and others) are rostered on.
  • You can nominate which days you want to do duty, and request a swap with other members if required.
  • Duty Man will send you a reminder email prior to your nominated dates.

The system is automated and will send you an introductory email when your details are first entered by the roster manager. This email will include your login and an explanation of how things work. If you haven't received the introductory email yet, please send a request to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. How Duty Man Works:

There are two ways the system can work. The first option is that you can logon and volunteer directly for the two days that suit you, or we can allocate people to races as required. With the second option, you will be sent an email advising when you have been rostered on, and you will need to respond to this by either confirming you are available, or by requesting a swap.

As you can see, the first option is simple and convenient for both you and the race committee. If all members choose this option everything will run smoothly. Conversely, the second option is likely to result in people being rostered on when they are not available, in which case it is their responsibility to arrange a swap. Although the system facilitates this process, it can often be time consuming and is not particularly convenient for anyone.

At this stage we will not be allocating members to race duty, but will expect people to volunteer. If all duty positions are not filled by the Friday morning prior to each race, the race will be cancelled.

Some people may find it is not obvious how to volunteer. The big tip is to look at the tabs on the right hand side to guide you on what to do next. Specifically, if you want to volunteer for a duty, click the “Volunteer” tab first. If you still can’t work it out, send an email to  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Please feel free to email me if you have further questions, and hopefully we’ll see those duty slots fill  quickly.
